Getting scam calls or texts is frustrating and stressful, especially if you’ve been caught out by one. At Tesco Mobile, we’re doing everything we can to protect you from these kinds of messages and calls.
You might already have seen fewer scam messages recently, thanks to work being done across the mobile industry. We’re continuing to work with the Gardaí, government groups, and Irish networks to stop fraud and keep you safe.
Phishing: Fake emails or websites that try to trick you into sharing personal or financial details.
SMShing: Scam texts pretending to be from companies (like delivery services) that ask you to click a link or share info.
Vishing: Scam phone calls from someone pretending to be your bank or another trusted group, trying to get your private info.
Number spoofing is when scammers call you, and they display an Irish number (caller ID) so that you think it is a legitimate call, coming from a trusted Irish number.
Never share your personal details with someone you don’t know.
Don’t click on links in texts unless you’re 100% sure they’re safe.
If you’re unsure, contact the company directly using a trusted number.
Don’t call back numbers you don’t recognise—especially if there’s no voicemail.
Watch out for spelling mistakes or odd language in messages.
If you think you’ve been targeted, report it to the Gardaí. Scam calls and texts are a criminal offence.
