Phone Settings

Android Settings

  1. From your Android Phone, select the Settings icon . In the settings menu scroll down until you see Mobile networks.
  2. You should now see an option called Access Point Names.
  3. Tesco Mobile recommend you reset to default all listed APN’s, you can do this through the top right section of the Access Point Names dialog box, in the below example click on the MORE button.
  4. When complete you should have 2 NEW APN’s added similar to the picture below. This reset allows you to successfully browse the internet and send MMS messages. If you are still experiencing issues, please follow the details below.

    Within the Access Point Names menu edit the settings for Tesco Mobile Internet, this can be done by clicking on the icon you will need to verify all settings match the one’s listed below.
    • Name: Tesco Mobile Internet
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • APN Type: default

Within the Access Point Names menu edit the settings for Tesco MMS, this can be done by clicking on the icon you will need to verify all settings match the one’s listed below.

  1. Name: Tesco MMS
  2. APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
  3. MMSC: http://mmc1/servlets/mms
  4. MMS Proxy: 10.1.11.19
  5. MMS Port: 8080
  6. MCC: 272
  7. MNC: 11
  8. APN TYPE: MMS
  9. APN Protocol: IPv4

When you have entered all of these settings please reboot the phone to allow the settings to take effect.

Blackberry Settings

  1. Go to Blackberry Stuff
  2. Options
  3. Advanced
  4. TCP/IP settings
  5. Then can enter in new APN as below
    • APN (Access Point Name): tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • MMSC: http://mmc1/servlets/mms
    • MNC: 11
    • WAP Home: tescomobile.ie/wap

Please note we do not support Blackberry services, which means you will not be able to use your BBM. You will also not be able to use apps that you have download from BIS like Facebook, Twitter etc however you will be able to access internet through your browser and log into these pages that way.

Also please note you will be able to use the BIS services as above and BBM over a wifi connection.

iPhone Operating Systems

Apple regularly updates the software on your iPhone, to find out what version of the Operating System you are on (IOS) follow the below steps. This information is useful to enable initial configuration on the Tesco Mobile network and Tethering.

  1. From the Settings menu select General.
  2. Within this menu then select the About option.
  3. Scroll down until you see the menu item called Version.
  4. The version of your Operating System (IOS) is displayed as per the graphic below. 

Setting up your iPhone (iOS 8)

  1. Insert the Tesco Mobile Sim Card into the unlocked iPhone.
  2. Ensure you complete the standard iTunes setup as required by Apple.
  3. From the iPhone Settings menu, select Mobile Data option, check to ensure the option Mobile Data is turned on. (see graphic below)
  4. Return to the Settings menu, choose Mobile Data Network.
  5. Please enter the following settings.
    Mobile Data:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • Username: leave empty
    • Password: leave empty

    MMS Section:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • MMSC: http://10.1.11.68/servlets/mms
    • MSC Proxy: 10.1.11.19:8080
    • Max Message Size: 307200
    • MMS UA Prof URL: leave empty

  6. Finally reboot the iPhone for the settings to take effect.
  7. This will allow you to avail of Data & MMS on your iPhone.

Setting up your iPhone (iOS 9)

  1. Insert the Tesco Mobile Sim Card into the unlocked iPhone.
  2. Ensure you complete the standard iTunes setup as required by Apple.
  3. From the iPhone Settings menu, select Cellular  option, check to ensure the option Cellular Data is turned on. (see graphic below) 
  4. Return to the Settings menu, choose Cellular , then select Cellular Data Network.
  5. Please enter the following settings.
    Cellular Data:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • Username: leave empty
    • Password: leave empty

    MMS Section:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • MMSC: http://10.1.11.68/servlets/mms
    • MSC Proxy: 10.1.11.19:8080
    • Max Message Size: 307200
    • MMS UA Prof URL: leave empty

  6. Finally reboot the iPhone for the settings to take effect.
  7. This will allow you to avail of Data & MMS on your iPhone.

Tethering for iOS 8

  1. From the iPhone, select the Settings   icon
  2. Within settings click on the option called Mobile Data , then select Mobile Data Network.
  3. Scroll down the iPhone screen to the section called ‘PERSONAL HOTSPOT’.
  4. Populate the fields in this section with the following:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • Username: leave empty
    • Password: leave empty

  5. Now reboot the iPhone for the settings to take effect.
  6. To enable the Personal Hotspot, goto Settings , choose Mobile Data , and enable the Personal Hotspot.
  7. You can use the default password, or enter a password of your choice.

Tethering for iOS 9

  1. From the iPhone, select the Settings icon
  2. Within settings click on the option called Cellular , then select Cellular Data Network.
  3. Scroll down the iPhone screen to the section called ‘PERSONAL HOTSPOT’.
  4. Populate the fields in this section with the following:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • Username: leave empty
    • Password: leave empty

  5. Now reboot the iPhone for the changes to take effect.
  6. To enable the Personal Hotspot, goto Settings , choose Cellular , and enable the Personal Hotspot as per the graphic below.
  7. You can use the default password, or enter a password of your choice. 

Windows Phone Settings

Your Tesco Mobile Windows phone is configured to work out of the box. If you have ported your phone to Tesco Mobile from another operator you may have to alter some configuration settings.

Follow the below steps to get the most of your mobile phone on the Tesco Mobile Network.

  1. From Windows 8 main screen, select the App List then scroll down to Settings.
  2. From the settings menu select Mobile + SIM.
  3. Click on the view internet APN button.
  4. This will display the screen called Internet APN.
  5. In the APN box enter tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
  6. To enable you to send MMS messages on the Tesco Mobile network complete the following settings.
  7. In the Mobile +SIM screen, scroll down and click on the edit MMS APN button.
  8. Enter the following into the MMS settings.
    MMS Section:
    • APN: tescomobile.liffeytelecom.com
    • WAP gateway(URL): 10.1.11.19
    • WAP gateway port: 8080
    • MMSC: http://10.1.11.68/servlets/mms
    • IP type: IPv4

  9. Don’t forget to change the IP type to IPv4, otherwise MMS will not work.
