Recurring Add-ons Terms And Conditions

  1. Recurring Add-ons
    • 1.1 You may purchase one or more of our recurring "Add-ons" – Recurring ‘Unlimited Text’ and ‘1GB Data’ for a Prepay, Bill Pay or Capped Monthly Account. A one month recurring term applies to each Add-on purchased.
    • 1.2 To purchase an Add-on you must opt-in to your preferred Add-on by texting OPTIN TEXT (for the Unlimited Text Add-on) or OPTIN DATA (for the 1GB Add-on) or OPTIN5 (for the 5GB Add-on) to 1744, by following the instructions in the ‘My Tesco Mobile’ section of tescomobile.ie or by calling Customer Care. We endeavour to activate your Add-on immediately, but please allow up to 24 hours for your Add-on to be activated on your Account.
    • 1.3 You can now use your Add-on allowances while roaming in the EU in the same way as you would use at home i.e. Roam Like At Home (‘RLAH’), however usage may be subject to a Fair Usage Policy (‘FUP’) and proof of stable links. Tesco Mobile reserves the right to request proof of residency in order to enable you to RLAH i.e. use your Plan / Service while roaming periodically in the EU. Proof of residency may be established through registration with the mytesco portal or Tesco Clubcard or by providing a valid document confirming your place of residence (see tescomobile.ie/eu-roaming-regulation for a complete list of acceptable proofs).
    • 1.4 Fair Use Policy: the Data FUP allowance will be calculated in accordance with the Commission’s Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/2286 and you will be informed of the applicable allowance once you start roaming.   2. Prepay customers
    • 2.1 For Prepay customers the charge for your chosen Add-on will be deducted from the Prepay account balance on the refill date each month (i.e. one month after you opt-in and each month thereafter).
    • 2.2 If you do not have sufficient funds in your balance for your Prepay Account on the refill date, your Add-on will not be activated on your account. Such a failure will automatically result in you being opted-out of the chosen Add-on. In such circumstances you will have to reactivate the Add-on after topping up the balance for your Prepay Account.
    • 2.3 If your Recurring Data Add-On balance is at zero before your next recurrence, you can purchase a Once off Data Add-On. This new balance will be depleted to zero when your Recurring Data Add-On applies.
    • 2.4 If you opt-out (see Section 4.5 below) you will not receive, nor be charged for your Add-on at your next refill date. When you opt-out any remaining balance for the Add-on will continue until the end of your current month. Any remaining balance at the end of the monthly period will then expire.
  3. Bill Pay customers
    • 3.1 Add-on’s purchased from the 15th June 2021 for Bill Pay customers (including Capped Monthly customers) the Charge for your chosen Add-on will be applied to your monthly bill. Please note that add-ons are pro-rated i.e. you will receive a pro-rated charge from the date of opt-in to your next billing date. The pro-ration is applied only for the first month for Bill pay customers, until it aligns with the customer’s monthly billing cycle. For example if a customer adds a 5GB Data allowance mid bill cycle – we only charge €5 and the customer gets the full allowance of 5GB of data. You may purchase multiple add-on’s within the same billing period i.e. data and text. However, you may not purchase the same add-on within the same billing period. Should we observe abuse of our pro-rata policy, we will notify you to amend your behaviour. Failure to amend your behaviour, may result in service suspension and or your ability to purchase add-on’s. There is no carry over of allowances from one billing cycle into the next. See pro-rata explained for further information.
    • 3.2 If you opt-out (see Section 4.5 below), any remaining Add-on balance will expire on that date. You will receive a prorated charge from the date of opt-out to your next billing date.
  4. General (all customers)
    1. 4.1 The Add-on allowance will be available for one month, and after this month will be refilled. On refill, the allowance of your purchased Add-on will be topped up to maximum of 5,000 texts for the Unlimited Text Add-on, 1GB for the 1GB Data Add-on and 5GB for the 5GB Add-on, unless you have opted-out. Any balance remaining at the end of the month will automatically expire.
    2. 4.2 Add-on details:
      1. 4.2.1 Unlimited Text Add-on - 5,000 domestic texts which can be used to text mobile phones in the Republic of Ireland. A fair usage limit of 5,000 texts per month applies to the Unlimited Text Add-on. This excludes premium rate messages, international text, any text messages sent whilst roaming or to any other non geographic numbers.
      2. 4.2.3 1GB & 5GB Data Add-ons - 1GB or 5GB of data which can be used while in the Republic of Ireland.
    3. 4.3 The recurring 1GB Data Add-on or 5GB Data Add-on cannot be combined with other once-off data Add-ons, which are currently available to Prepay or Capped Monthly customers.
    4. 4.4 Standard out of bundle rates apply if a customer exceeds the Add-on allowance prior to monthly refill.
    5. 4.5 You can opt-out to stop a recurring Add-on at any time by texting the words OPTOUT TEXT (for the Unlimited Text Add-on) or OPTOUT DATA (for the 1GB Data or 5GB Data Add-ons) to 1744, by submitting a request on the ‘My Tesco Mobile’ section of tescomobile.ie or by calling Customer Care.
    6. 4.6 If you leave the Network by porting your number you will lose any remaining allowance in your Add-on. If your Service is suspended or terminated you may lose your Add-on. No refund for unused allowances will be given.
    7. 4.7 All charges are inclusive of VAT at the then applicable rate, currently 23%.
    8. 4.8 We reserve the right to suspend or cease these Add-ons and to amend and modify these terms and conditions, including prices or Add-ons duration without notice for any legitimate commercial, technical or operational reason.
    9. 4.9 These conditions are in addition to and form part of the terms and conditions of your use of the Tesco Mobile Bill Pay Service or Tesco Mobile Prepay Service as well as our General Terms and Conditions. Capitalised terms used in these terms and conditions have the same meaning as in the General Terms and Conditions.
